Conversations with Turkey's Career Pioneers - Celal Abdi Güzer

We had our last Turkey's Career Pioneers Talk with Abdi Güzer, the founder of CAG Celal Abdi Güzer Architectural Workshop. Mr. Güzer started his talk by introducing himself. He talked about what design is in daily life, its requirements, the definition of architecture as a discipline in the professional sense, the processes at the faculty and the courses.

While showing some samples from his visual presentation, he touched upon the qualities a good architect should possess, and the importance of restoration and preservation as well as construction in architecture. He defined architecture as a structure that comes into being as a result of bringing together a number of objects with a purpose in mind. He stated that since architecture is intermingled with art, it is very suitable to moving into other areas. Mr. Güzer, who showed samples from his own projects, talked about the beauty of seeing something one makes come alive, and the ability and difficulty of doing a number of things at the same time.

He underlined that creativity is something that can be developed and that the artist can feed on his experiences through reading, listening, and seeing. In response to questions about his thoughts on the design of TED Ankara College, he stated that expressing more using less is different from seeing the space as the background. Following his talk, he was also a guest on Radio TEDU to answer questions.
