Ted Ankara College and METU Department of Business Administration graduate Mr. Özçelik initiated the conversation by explaining what a correct decision it was for him to take the exams of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Mr. Özçelik emphasized that he was responsible for the Balkans when he was on mission in the United States which required being knowledgeable about the Kurdish and Armenian issues and he expressed his contentment of representing the only secular country in the Islamic world during his mission in Bagdad.

Murat Özçelik explained that being a diplomat means contributing to the foreign policy in every aspect of life and stressed that the responsibility of a diplomat is to develop the relations between the countries. He also mentioned the pleasure of exploring the world, how it expands one’s vision and turns one into a liberal individual. Mr. Özçelik said that the students will realise later on their lives the perspective and mentality they have acquired at the TED Ankara College. He advised the students to fully develop themselves in their professional lives, mentioned that they will always be dealing with problems if they choose to be diplomats and expressed that there is no other profession as satisfactory as being a diplomat for those who admire constant change.
