CONVERSATIONS WITH TURKEY'S CAREER PIONEERS - ÖZCAN ERTEM
This week’s Career Pioneers Talk guest was TAI-TUSAŞ Aircraft Group President Özcan Ertem. Mr. Ertem, who started his talk by introducing himself, gave a presentation in which he stated that his dreams about aircrafts started with a plane given to him as a gift when he was a child. He said that due to his growing height and deterioration of eyesight he had to give up his dream of becoming a pilot, which later led to his education in Aeronautical Engineering.
He talked about his professional life which started at Turkish Aeronautical Association, his transfer to TAI, the place of TAI in the world aviation sector, the merging of TAI and TUSAŞ, their expansion through investment in people, their ranking first in the world in their number of women engineers, their hiring of engineers from fundamental branches of engineering and helping them specialize in aviation, and their initiatives in building satellites. He also provided an analysis of Turkey in terms of the aviation industry and talked about aircraft parts manufactured by them on models of planes we take.
Ertemunderlined that in order to release products at a global standard, in addition to resources, time and manpower, everyone should also believe in it. He also shared the movie prepared for HÜRKUŞ, the trainer aircraft designed and developed by TAI, whose name was inspired by the Turkish pilot and engineer Vecihi Hürkuş. Later he answered student questions and moved onto his interview at Radio TEDU.
