Our guest in March was Tanzer Tunçalp, Production Planning Manager at ARÇELİK A.Ş. He started his talk introducing himself, and then he summed up what’s in store for the Industry Engineering students in their business life after graduation, what are the expectations of companies from them and what are they likely to experience in the course of their careers.
Although it has always been said that one-way communication does not work, Mr. Tunçalp emphasized that yet it still has been originating in oneself and he added that if one cannot understand what has been said, then the communication will count for nothing. He told about the hierarchical restrictions of business life, and that they are going to be treated as interns for the first couple of years, and this they had better go patiently through since they will still be in the training process for the meanwhile. He exemplified the stages of a career as a 5-pillar structure consisting of your immediate manager, work environment, balance, senior management and the corporate influence. He warned the students that the system would break down had any one of these five pillars been missing.
Mr. Tunçalp mentioned which departments at Arçelik can industry engineers be employed and continued with a Q&A session and he finalized his talk telling that everyone has their own way, they are the ones who need to choose to follow the most appropriate career path for their characters, recent interview technologies involved case studies, they need to behave honestly, and the reason why he has been working for the same institution for the past 23 years.
