The second guest of Conversations with Career Pioneers, October was BOEING Turkey General Director and Country Representative Ayşem Sargın. Mrs. Sargın briefly explained her career journey and the different positions she held following her graduation from TED Ankara College and METU Department of Economics.
Mrs. Sargın indicated that she enjoyed all her responsibilities and that she felt committed to these positions. She mentioned that she had to prove herself each time she changed her position. Mrs. Sargın explained that she collaborated with numerous companies and institutions throughout her career which allowed her to develop different perspectives.
Mrs. Sargın stressed that the business life is far more challenging for new generations. She specified that they should step out from their comfort zones, prove their individual talents, set targets and be innovative. She also advised the students to separate their profession from their political ideas and take their professions seriously.
Mrs. Sargın continued the conversation by explaining the countries where Boeing carries its activities, the role of Turkey in the sector and why the company needs to create a difference in the market. She clarified the methods of cost planning, productivity, growth and innovation strategies which are essential for achieving their goals.
Mrs. Sargın answered the questions of the students and ended the conversation by indicating Boeing’s competition for the space researches, what they look for during the recruitment process, the importance of sales and marketing policies.
